lijianggroup1.jpg blank It was in the evening when we arrived at Lijiang. After dinner, some of our tour members went out to the famous Lijiang Ancient Town without hesitation. There the night scene was joyful and crowded. There were many small pubs and restaurants operating alongside the water canals, which interweaving the whole town. We found all kinds of food sold there ranging from local Chinese hotpot gourmets to Italian pizzas. fred.jpg blank We sat down at a local restaurant to try out some local exotic food like deep fried cheese (a local delicacy made from the milk of the high mountain "Mo" cow), roast high mountain beef and deep fried dragonflies. Fred and Mrs. Lo enjoyed eating the deep fried dragonflies. According to them, the dragonflies were juicy and delicious. But it was Ga-Ying Gor who gobbled up the entire dish without reserve!

lijiangtown3.jpg blank The day view of the Lijiang Ancient Town was another story. I saw many old men and women gathered together at the town square. They were chatting and playing card games under the nice warm sunshine. Most of them were people from the Naxi tribe, one of the major ethnic minorities in Yunnan. That was the lifestyle in Lijiang, so relaxing and comfortable. Lijiang was full of historical architectures. I particularly liked the rubble roads, which were constructed for horses and wooden carriages in the ancient days. They were unique and artistic, built with superb craftsmanship. The view of the Lijiang Ancient Town from the top of the Lion Hill was another wonderful and extraordinary sight. Lijiang was an unusual and amazing spectacle.
